Guide to Tattoos and Why People Have Them
Not everyone likes to be tattooed. Those who oppose it have as much taunts while real tattoo artist does not also favor allowing people to get reckless and ink their entire body with ‘tramp stamps’. To those undecided however, I want to merely provide an insight on why people get tattooed and why they wear them with pride.
Some people put tattoos to remind themselves of a departed loved one, and to be able to continue with life after than experience. With this tattoo, the loved one is forever remembered and their former life is given reminder by this tattoo.
Some people deciding to have a closure of a sad experience by using a tattoo is just one reason for doing it. Since everything that is tattooed in their body has a sad story to it, they pride themselves with it. And they are willing to not only forget what happened plus the determination to continue on with bravery and tenacity enriches what’s been embedded on their skin that is hard to erase.
It is another way of expressing yourself using radical art as opposed to using propaganda or commercialism. According to a Marxian playwright Bertolt Brecht, it is a revolutionary art since “art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.” He believes that to be a radical and a revolutionary artist is to be defiant of any imposition of form or content by any economic system, artist academy or political status quo. You can see radical art everywhere which displays people’s liberal adoption on politics and society in the form of rebellious graffiti on walls.
Abstract painting is another form of radical expression of their feeling, their character or even a single thought on canvases. But what better way for these type of people to not only own their radical thought because it is embedded on their skin and it is always with them wherever they go. This is something lacking in graffiti and paintings, where the artist’s presence is not directly affected. If you ink your radical thoughts to your skin, it gives pride you pride since it epitomizes or embodies your being a full-fledged radical artist.
Being able to express something in this form of art is already a reason why people take pride in them. It is like an act of heroism for some to know that something is embedded there for good. You will have a problem with your fiance later on in life if you have, in impulse, tattoos a name of a special friend during your younger years.
